Arboretum Marcel Kroenlein

An arboretum unique in Europe for its altitude, the Marcel Kroenlein site nestles in Roure, a village in the Tinée valley at the heart of the Mercantour National Park, just ninety minutes from Nice.

Perched at a height of between 1280 and 1700 metres, the Arboretum in Roure is one of the star attractions of the Tinée Valley. At the heart of the Mercantour National Park, 15 hectares of luxuriant vegetation immerse visitors in true nature.
Instigated by botanist Marcel Kroenlein, former director of Monaco's Jardin Exotique, the park tells the story of existence through biodiversity. A unique vegetation can be found there, which benefits from a microclimate which is both Mediterranean and Alpine.
Throughout the year, educational workshops raising awareness about environmental conservation are held here. Other workshops offer an introduction to medicinal plants, finding out about ornithology, and also an introduction to artistic and manual creation. In winter, when Roure puts on its great white mantle, the arboretum invites people for fun activities, including snowshoe walks to admire the wilds covered with immaculate snow. The Arboretum Marcel Kroenlein in Roure has been awarded the Remarkable Garden label.
